Dental Assistant – Kavo Coupling Handpiece Instructions

How to remove/insert your Kavo Coupling for your first fit handpiece if it is stuck

The Kavo couplings can form morse connection and get stuck if oil is repelled through the handpiece and sets. If this happens please follow the below instructions.

  1. Gather Necessary Tools: You’ll need a small spanner.
  2. Disconnect the Handpiece: Detach the handpiece from the coupling to prevent any accidental damage.
  3. Secure the Hose: Hold the hose firmly to prevent it from twisting during the removal process.
  4. Position the Spanner: Place the spanner onto the coupling’s hexagonal section.
  5. Loosen the Coupling: Turn the spanner counterclockwise to loosen the coupling. Apply steady pressure to avoid damaging the threads.
  6. Remove the Coupling: Once loosened, continue turning by hand until the coupling detaches from the hose.
  7. Inspect and Clean: After removal, inspect the coupling and hose for any signs of wear or debris. Clean as necessary before reassembly or replacement.
