Dentist – Porcelain Veneers – Preparation (DB Process)

  • ⁃  Consent
  • ⁃  Show pt wax-up (ask if they like)
  • ⁃  Onboarding photos/ videos
  • ⁃  Try stent & polish protruding teeth
  • ⁃  Mock up in
  • ⁃  Sit up: adjust width, length, protrusion
  • ⁃  Sit up: assess gums (mental note)
  • ⁃  Apply numbing cream around 11/21 & leave
  • ⁃  2 LA cartridges, angle needle & guide LA with mirror (place gauze in sulcus)
  • ⁃  Depth gauge 0.3mm, draw with pencil
  • ⁃  Prep 3 planes
  • ⁃  Take temp off & floss
  • ⁃  Check clearance with stent
  • ⁃  Gum lift (10sec at a time max), sit patient up and reassess
  • ⁃  After gum lift, bone sound, bone file/ curette
  • ⁃  Mockup back in, Incisal reduction
  • ⁃  Prep margins
  • ⁃  Fat bur to eliminate undercuts
  • ⁃  Ensure sufficient interproximal reduction
  • ⁃  Smooth with soflex & white stone bur
  • ⁃  Pack retraction cord
  • ⁃  Take 2 imps – 2nd one without cord
  • ⁃  Take shade photo
  • ⁃  Retracted face photo & open photo
  • ⁃  Vaseline on palatal & occlusal
  • ⁃  Microprime & Place Teflon
  • ⁃  ProTemp, remove Teflon while setting
  • ⁃  Polish margins with flame bur
  • ⁃  Clean off excess with scaler
  • ⁃  Check bite, sit pt up and polish
  • ⁃  Smile reveal in chair & big mirror
  • ⁃  Post-op instructions
  • ⁃  Whitening (if time permits)
